Support for Those in Need

The Community Foundation of the New River Valley (CFNRV) is a non-profit organization classified as 501c3  by the Internal Revenue Service. Individuals, families, and businesses create specific endowed funds for  their intended charitable purpose. These funds are considered “component funds” of the CFNRV, for which  the CFNRV takes care of all accounting, investment, gift acknowledgment, and grant-making in accordance  with the purpose set by the endowment’s founding donor(s). All gifts to component funds are tax  deductible as allowed by law. Please consult your tax advisor for details.  

To Give by Check 

Make your check payable to CFNRV and mail it to the Community Foundation of the New River Valley, P.O.  Box 6009, Christiansburg, VA 24068-6009. Please write the name of the specific endowed fund in the memo  line (e.g. Smith Family Memorial Fund).  

To Give by Credit/Debit Card 

• Visit cfnrv.org and click on Give Now in the upper right corner. Select your donation amount, and  under “To further designate this gift please specify below” please type the name of the specific  endowed fund (e.g. Robbie Armbrister Memorial Fund). Then complete your payment information. 

• Please note that there are credit card processing fees associated with all online gifts. To ensure the  entire amount of your donation goes to the specific endowed fund, make sure you elect to cover  fees before submitting your payment. 

To Give Other Non-Cash Assets or Make an Estate Gift 

To make a gift of stock or other non-cash asset, or to include a specific endowed fund in your estate plans,  please contact Jessica Wirgau, CEO of the Community Foundation of the New River Valley, at  jessicawirgau@cfnrv.org or call 540-381-8999.  

Language for Memorial Gifts 

Families may wish to include a specific endowed fund in an obituary or memorial announcement. Please  reference the name of the fund (e.g. Robbie Armbrister Memorial Fund) and include the following language “a  component fund of the Community Foundation of the New River Valley. Checks may be made payable to  CFNRV and mailed P.O. Box 6009, Christiansburg, VA 24068-6009. Please write (name of the specific endowed fund) in the memo line” 

A Note About Social Media Fundraising 

The CFNRV strongly discourages using Facebook or other social media fundraising tools, as those platforms  do not provide the CFNRV with the information needed to properly credit your gift to the specific endowed  fund.
